Floriculture & Highland Vegetables

At an altitude of 5,000 feet above sea level, the foothills of Mt. Kinabalu are also ideally suitable for the cultivation of a large variety of temperate flowers such as chrysanthemums, roses, carnations, statice, asters, glafioli, anthuriums, peacocks, golden roads, gerberas, agapanthus and calla lillies which are grown throughout the year.

The production of cut temperate flowers was pioneered by Desa Highlands Sdn Bhd, a Joint-Venture between Desa (51%) and Lam Hoi Song & Brothers Flowers Nurseries Sdn Bhd of the Cameron Highlands.

Today, Desa Highlands Sdn Bhd is one of the major producers of cut flowers in Sabah which are sold in Sabah and Sarawak.
